“The People & Planet International Photo Competition 2013” is adopted as part of the class assessment to create environmental awareness and appreciation towards nature and culture and people. We are to capture (photographic visuals), caption and present “nature” in the format artistic of a photographic journal. This project is also adopted as an assessment to provide opportunity for us to experience taking part in international competition. This competition would benefit us by instilling a globally competitive skill whilst strengthening their creative skills. This is also a part of creative teaching and learning approach that is adapted under the degree programme.

Environmental Sustainable Design
This module introduces us to the environmental issues and provides some in-depth understanding of the complexities and interactions that the design and construction professions have to deal with to contain some of the irreversible damage that human settlement causes to the environment. Modules also intend to instill basic ecological literacy and environmental concerns through projects that involves local environment and society. This module help us also in developing awareness of local and global environmental issues and concerns, explore to the local context of climate and building practices and various as approaches to sustainable architecture.

Project 1: The People & Planet International Photography Competition 2013
From this assignment, it indeed increase my awareness of current environmental issues locally and globally. I get to explore the local and global context of growth and therefore realizing the relationship between growth and its impact on the environment and induce creativity in attempting to explore the current environmental circumstances. Furthermore, I recognized the effect of growth on the environment (nature and environment) and explore the concept of environmental and ecological sustainability. As a conclusion, I know that the role and responsibility of an architect towards environment and society is very important.
Project 2: Paying it forward (Exploring the sense of environmental and community engagement as future designer)
Though, the concept of environmental-community service is not very new its importance has developed in the past few years. There are thousands of organizations all over the world that engage and hold millions of young people all through the world. People of all age groups, with a maximum number of youth are involved in the process of community service. Environmental-community-based organizations include; social service organizations, nonprofit providers and associations that engage both young people as well adults as volunteers; youth development organizations, after-school programs, and faith-based organizations. The process is beneficial both for the individuals as well as the society.

In the project we get to explore the concept of environmental and ecological sustainability and produce a complete documentation of the entire project from proposal up to completion and a multi media presentation on the issue and process taken to resolve the issue. We recognise role and responsibility of an architect towards environment and society and exemplify creativity in attempting to explore the current environmental circumstances.
I am glad that we can help out as an architect-to-be and also a volunteer to the environment.
Lastly, enjoy the trailer!! :)
