The house was conceived around 1937 by the well-known Italian architect Adalberto Libera for Curzio Malaparte. Malaparte actually rejected Libera's design and built the home himself with the help of Adolfo Amitrano, a local stonemason.

Location: Isle of Capri, Italy Casa Malaparte is a red masonry box with reverse pyramidal stairs leading to the roof patio. On the roof is a freestanding curving white wall of increasing height. It sits on a dangerous cliff 32 metres above the sea overlooking the Gulf of Salerno.

In this project, we chose Chinese tea. We analysed the process of making the tea and came out with the model. We are influenced by the fluidity of the tea.

The day of the presentation. We pin up our board on the wall and the model is presented on the table.

In this project, we chose Chinese tea. We analysed the process of making the tea and came out with the model. We are influenced by the fluidity of the tea.
After the presentation, we get to choose our partner for the project relating to the site which is Tea for Two. In this project, we chose the tea that we want, for example, Chinese tea. From the understanding of the culture of the tea, we developed a space for drinking of tea. The aim of this project is to generate form and space through architectural conceptualisation, with the emphasis on exploring the user requirement and simple spatial organization skills and design intentions to develop an architectural proposition.
From this project I learn that teamwork is important and also learnt more about grafted space. It is not easy to create furniture that is popped out or connected to the building.

The circulation of the cellar floor which is private circulation and only the owner of the person-in-charge is allow to go in.

The circulation of the ground floor is particular for the guests and the owner.

The bigger space which is the living room is for the guest and the owner. The red arrow is the private circulation as the space is for the owner only.

Public Circulation for the guest to the rooftop to have a panaromic view of the sea. Private Circulation for the owner to the cellar floor.

The outline of the plan and section are similar.

Massing in 3D

Instead of being a normal rectangular box, it is being cut out to form a staircase and the the stairs is create from narrow to wide.

Cellar floor is meant for the owner which is mostly private.

Ground floor is mostly guest rooms therefore it is semi-private and public.

The living room is a public area for the guests and owner. The spaces with red is bedroom and study room for the owner therefore it is private.

Red indicates the sunlight casts into the building during sunrise.

The size of the opening of the building has different sizes to show that the space is public or private. For example, the bigger space which is the living room required larger opening to allow more light to penetrate the room.

The building is made up of square and rectangular shape and the unique part is the incomplete triangle.

Design Studio 2
A continuation from Architecture Design Studio 1. A series studio based exercises and assignments that introduce the principles and methods of analysis, abstraction, and synthesis in design thinking that are common to many design fields, including building and architecture.
The key emphasis of the studio is ‘user and its context’.
This unit is to introduce the importance of prototyping design through techniques of making and drawing as an approach to develop and articulate space and form in architectural design and to emphasize the importance of space planning as a response to specific function and human needs and the importance of the synthesis between the client, site and program in architectural space making.
PROJECT ONE: FAMOUS PEOPLE, FAMILIAR FACES
DIAGRAMMATIC ABSTRACTION
In a group 5, we had been given a building which is a private residence by our lecturer, Casa Malaparte. This building has a very special history. Born of the controversial partnership between the emblematic Curzio Malaparte owner and one of the greatest architectural rationalism. the architect Adalberto Libera.
Casa Malaparte is a modern architectural work of 1937 for long regarded as a work of Italian architect Adalberto Libera and is currently assigned to its owner, the writer Curzio Malaparte.
Malaparte initial scheme rejected it as linear and rationalist, compared with a bunker or a prison, in addition to the distant Mediterranean spirit. Finally the architect and begin to discuss the writer's work, and is the same Malaparte who with the help of local masons and culminates directs the project.
From this first project, me and my teammates produced a complete sets of orthographic drawing of Casa Malaparte with scale 1:200. We done the analysis of the building and we drawn out 15 sets of diagrams including symmetry and balance, circulation, private vs public etc. I learnt that why Malaparte rejected the most famous architect in the 1930's Adalberto Libera because the building does not suits the characterictics of Malaparte himself. Therefore, there is actually 2 architects designing the building. The building is built on a cliff and isolated at the corner of Isle of Capri indicating the life of Curzio Malaparte went through as a journalist for his whole life. I also understand basic architectural compositions of solids, planes, lines and frames of the building.
PROJECT 2A: TEA FOR TWO

Project 2
Site Visit to Cameron Highland
After the first project, we been divided into two groups and two sites. One is Sungai Palas Boh Tea Plantation and Bharat Tea Plantation. My group went to the Sungai Palas Boh Tea Plantation.
Each group has to do an analysis on the site and came out with a presentation.
So in a big group, we divided ourselves into smaller group which we had to do analysis on site plan, existing structure, activities, circulation, landscapes, climatic, views, and case studies. In a group of 9, we are given to do research on the circulation.

PROJECT 2C: TEA HOUSE

I created the walkway because when the human walking through they were like water molecules in the stem and walk to the leaf which is the main building. The main idea is also transpiration.

This is an individual assignment. We have to design a tea house function as habitable architectural spaces to enable the activity associated with living, dining, cleansing, cooking, storage and such within the built up space of 150 square meter. The relationship between the design and the context is also important in making the tea house unique to its landscape and activity.
This assignment introduce the notions of concepts, program and process in architectural design, understanding of user specific design requirements, the notions of space, form and function in architectural design and awareness of site specific design and the process of site analysis.
I took the shape of the leaf as inspiration and literally translate it to my floor plan. And it also goes on with the shape of the contour. My concept is from transpiration. When user going through space, they were like the water molecules being pull for evaporation.

From this assignment, I am able to interpret and analyse simple site context and analyse client’s character and needs in relation to the design of a small building.
Lastly, to design a simple building type that meets user requirements and respect site context that balances both internal (architectural spaces/layout/circulation) and external (aesthetics and forms) design values.
